Abilities Unite Art - November 2026

Art enrichment classes are held each month at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown and Salem Public Library. We offer a variety of projects, including canvas painting, decoupage, jewelry making, floral crafts, and more. Classes are led by an art instructor and one assistant. They include specialized instruction, with step-by-step guides to provide a great experience for all ability levels. Projects are designed to provide individuals with disabilities the ability to create art with minimal assistance, encourage independence, and ensure creativity is their own. Adaptive art supplies are available to help everyone feel comfortable and confident to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Please note, parents and direct support professionals are not permitted to register for the class.

We ask that parents, caregivers, and/or direct support professionals stay during the art class to provide additional assistance as needed. Art projects are intended for individuals with developmental disabilities only. Additionally, we ask that artists arrive 10-15 minutes early for class so we can begin on time. This is important as many projects take the full hour to complete. Our teams carefully plan each step of the project for the time allotted for the class. For this reason, we will not be able to allow artists that arrive 10 minutes or more past the start time to join the class in progress.

Jewish Community Center: 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, OH 44504

• Classes are held in the lower level art studio, accessible by stairs and elevator.
• Class times are 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. on November 20, 2026.
• No experience is needed to participate.

Salem Library: 821 E. State Street, Salem, OH 44460

• Classes are held in the Quaker Room, located on the entry level.
• Class times are 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. on November 20, 2026.
• No experience is needed to participate.

Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to attend the class you registered for, we ask that you call or email our office 72 hours in advance of the scheduled class: DawnKramer@tcbdd.org or 330-652-9800. If you do not attend the class you registered for without notifying us of the need to cancel, we will bill you a $10 no show fee to cover the cost of the art materials that were purchased for you.
